Jean-Luc FONTANOT
Born close to the border of Switzerland in Grenoble, France, Jean-Luc Fontanot started playing tennis at an early age. After years of playing the sport in his home country and working with the French Tennis Federation, Fontanot decided to pursue a career in the sport he loved. Because of strict French standards to become a coach, Fontanot first studied business and then specialized in tennis and fitness.
With this expertise, he began working with the ATP World Tour and relocated to the Lighthouse Point area of South Florida where he now lives with his son Lleyton. From here, Fontanot worked with German Sportsman of the Year recipient, Benjamin Becker, helping Becker make the ATP’s biggest leap in ranking, taking him from an unranked player to number 70 in just one year. The duo also had quite a bit of success when, under Fontanot’s guidance, Becker was able to defeat Andre Agassi in Agassi’s retirement match in the 2006 US Open.
